The inception of Purl Diva occurred on a New York City subway while Ellen Rodgers was on her way to work.
Ellen – an avid knitter – decided to continue the legacy started by her Great Aunt Evelyn, the woman who had
taught her to knit, and began planning her exit from New York City.
When Ellen found a good retail location in Brunswick – a 1917 house with good bones but in need of a lot of
love – she quit her job and embarked on her new life. After spending months deep in renovations, Ellen opened
the doors to Purl Diva in 2006. The business expanded, friendships flourished, and customers learned new skills.
Great Aunt Evelyn's legacy continues!
